Marquette, MI College Senior Recital Session // Cheyenne

This. girl. can. work. it.
Working this session (and all senior recital sessions) fueled my need to create something artistic.
I still believe that I am first and foremost, an artist.
Photographing events and other people often makes me feel like I'm just capturing what is there and not necessarily creating something.
However, I still have a vision in mind. And inspiration hits me when I see certain scenes and textures.
What I love about senior recital sessions is that these musicians have a vision. They bring their own aesthetic that I can then blend with mine. I feel like I can do completely non-traditional shots because the whole point of the session is to get a creative image for a poster that is intriguing.
It's liberating in a way.

Outside of photography, I love to paint, draw, collage and do calligraphy. Though many of these things have remained dormant in me as I strive to create a successful business. Being an entrepreneur is no joke! I hope as I finish editing my last weddings that I can focus on these other artistic endeavors because I feel like my title as "artist" is starting to ware thin.

I've been doing a lot of reflecting on how I want to run my business from here on out and I'm excited to share some of my ideas in the future. But in the mean time, I have sooooo much editing to do, it's crazy. Everything is a process.

Please enjoy how much of a rock star Cheyenne is, and let me know what you think in the comments!
